Questions
The real questions
The glasses
Are they really unbreakable?+
They won't shatter like glass: they bounce off the dock. A really hard hit can still crack one. Perfect by the pool, the lake, the campfire and the kids.
Are they just for beer?+
Not at all! Beer, lemonade, sangria, caesars, water, juice for the kids' party… Just skip very hot drinks.
Are they dishwasher safe?+
No. Hand wash only, in warm soapy water, with a soft sponge. No dishwasher, no microwave, no abrasive cleaners. That's what keeps the print looking good for a long time — like any UV-printed glass.
Do I drink off the ink?+
No. We never print within 2 cm of the rim: your lips only touch the plastic.
Can I stack them?+
Avoid stacking them while the print is brand new, and store them without rubbing: the print will last longer.
Are they OK for a kids' party?+
Yes: no shards if a glass falls, and we never print within 2 cm of the rim, where mouths go. Hand wash in warm water, and no piping-hot drinks. Leave a note for the parents taking theirs home!
Your design
Is my photo good enough?+
A phone photo does the trick if the subject is well lit and taken up close. The workshop warns you if an image is too small for the size you picked.
Can every glass be different?+
Yes! In one box (same size), you can put the same design on every glass, a different name on each one, or make every glass unique.
How do the little drawings (Extras) work?+
In the Extras tab, tap a drawing (pine tree, maple leaf, canoe, paw, cake…) and it lands on the glass. Pick its colour from the swatches, the rainbow circle (any colour at all) or the eyedropper, which grabs an exact colour on screen. “White outline” makes it pop. Move it, resize it, rotate it or copy it to the back, just like a photo.
How do the repeating patterns (stripes, dots…) work?+
Also in Extras, under “Background pattern”: choose where it goes (the whole glass, the front or the back), then a pattern. Its editor opens: the framed square is the tile that repeats. Tap a line, a dot or a drawing to change its colour, thickness, size or position (or drag it), add more, and choose the pattern size and its background. The pattern always lines up perfectly at the seam, all the way around the glass. On the glass, drag it or stretch it by its handles to cover just a band, then “Edit pattern” to go back.
Opaque, stained glass, frosted: what's an element's “ink”?+
Tap an element on the glass, then choose its ink. Opaque: solid colours, with white underneath (the usual choice). Opaque, both sides: the design also looks good from inside the glass. Stained glass: no white, the colour is see-through and your drink shows through it. Frosted: no colour, the shape whitens the glass like etched glass. Glossy varnish: no colour, the shape shines subtly, as if engraved. You can mix them on one glass: a frosted logo with an opaque name, for example. In the workshop, “Ink effects” (Photo tab) shows examples with our logo. On screen it's a simulation: trust the 3D glass most. Frosted and varnish work best on fairly big shapes and letters (at least 6 mm).
What are the AI styles?+
Our artificial intelligence redraws your photo as a cartoon, a vintage poster, a watercolour, a woodcut… The result is AI-generated: look it over carefully before you order. You can always keep your photo as is.
Is the 3D preview accurate?+
For placement and size, yes. Colours printed on plastic are a little softer than on screen. We print a layer of white ink under your image so it stays easy to see.
Can I use a logo or a famous character?+
Only if you have the rights. We turn down brand logos, sports team logos and protected characters you don't own.
I already have my own file (transparent PNG)?+
Perfect: upload it in the workshop and the transparency is kept. Anything white in your image is printed with white ink; anything transparent stays clear (the “See on a dark background” button shows you). Aim for 300 dpi at the size you want, in sRGB colours. The glass is slightly tapered: the workshop measures the circumference halfway up the print area.
We lost our furry friend. Do you make keepsakes?+
We're so sorry about your companion. Our glasses are made for cottage parties; for a tribute, we'd rather point you to our sister studio, Pumpkin & Nova. Same workshop, same hands, but everything there is designed for those moments: their portrait, their name, a proof to approve before printing, and all the time you need.
Ordering and shipping
How long does it take?+
We print in 5 to 7 business days, then Canada Post delivers in 2 to 4 business days in Québec, 2 to 5 in Ontario and Atlantic Canada, 4 to 7 in Western Canada and 7 to 10 in the territories. For Christmas, order by December 5 (December 3 for Western Canada, November 30 for the territories).
How much is shipping?+
It depends on your region. Québec: $15, free from $100 · Ontario and Atlantic Canada (Ontario, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland and Labrador): $20, free from $150 · Western Canada (Manitoba, Alberta and British Columbia): $25, free from $175 · The territories (Yukon, Northwest Territories and Nunavut): $40, never free. The cart works out shipping and tax as soon as you pick your province. Online orders and delivery only: there's no pickup.
Do you ship everywhere in Canada?+
Yes, to every province and territory with Canada Post, except Saskatchewan for now. Sales tax for your province (GST + QST in Québec, HST in Ontario and Atlantic Canada, GST elsewhere) is calculated in the cart.
Can I change my order?+
Write to us quickly at bonjour@auboutduquai.ca. As long as printing hasn't started, we'll sort it out.
What if a glass arrives damaged or misprinted?+
Glass misprinted or damaged in shipping? Send us a photo within 14 days of delivery: we'll reprint it and ship it back free, or refund you.
More than 8 glasses?+
Add several boxes to your cart, say one of 6 and one of 4. Your design stays in the workshop after you add it: pick the 2nd box, change the names if needed and add it too, without starting over. From 25 glasses, request a quote under “Business”: the price per glass goes down.
I have a code on a card. How does it work?+
Scan the QR code or type the code in your cart: 15% off, one use, valid until April 30, 2027. You can also pass it on to a friend.
